Ongoing project
Catering company using UNGC CoP as a strategic lever for EcoVadis
The Challenge
A medium scale European catering group was running EcoVadis and its UN Global Compact Communication on Progress (CoP) as two entirely separate exercises. Data ownership is fragmented across three departments. Last minute evidence gaps appear before every assessment cycle, a recurring challenge the company needs to close with a connected process built to improve with each round.
Project Objectives
01
Eliminate duplicated reporting effort between EcoVadis and UNGC CoP
02
Build clear data ownership across sustainability, procurement and HR
03
Create a repeatable process that strengthens EcoVadis readiness every cycle
Nexio Projects’ Solution
01
Framework alignment
Mapped every EcoVadis indicator, supplier data point and internal policy against the full CoP structure. We found 60 to 70% documentation overlap. This reveals exactly what could be reused and where genuine gaps remained.
02
Stakeholder engagement and training
Repositioned the CoP as the organisation's central sustainability framework. Internal data owners are being aligned to three CoP themes: human rights, environment and anti-corruption. Accountability is becoming clear across all three departments without adding workload.
03
Continuous improvement partnership
The mapping revealed limited tracking of grievance mechanism effectiveness. Thus, we're introducing practical KPIs: number of supplier audits completed and employee complaints resolved. Both the CoP submission and the EcoVadis evidence will carry quantifiable proof of impact.
Key Outcomes
The client now runs EcoVadis and CoP from a single connected evidence base, with clear data ownership and a process that continues to strengthen with every reporting cycle.

Streamlined dual framework process
60 to 70% of documentation now shared across EcoVadis and CoP. Reporting effort reduced significantly. Assessment response time shortened across both cycles, and the efficiency keeps compounding.

Cross team collaboration
Procurement, HR and sustainability operate from one unified evidence base. Data gaps surface early. The last minute scramble before each EcoVadis cycle is gone.

Stronger EcoVadis readiness
The company enters every assessment cycle with organised, already validated evidence. The CoP backbone improves with each reporting round and scales as the business grows.
