Breaking the Platinum ceiling: A waste management groups jump from Silver to EcoVadis top 1%

The Challenge
Silver is a strong start, but moving from 71 points to Platinum requires a more structured EcoVadis improvement programme for this waste management company.

Project Objectives

01
Identify exactly which gaps are preventing a move from Silver into Platinum tier, not just in obvious areas but in the non-obvious ones.
02
Secure the UN Global Compact endorsement to unlock cross-pillar score improvement in a single structured action.
03
Build a Sustainability Management System that makes progress permanent, not cycle-dependent.

Key Outcomes

The client has a sustainability strategy that continues to cater for ongoing EcoVadis improvement needs, as well as growing customer and partner requirements for verified sustainability performance.
EcoVadis Platinum: 85/100, top 1% globally
Score moved from 71 Silver (93rd percentile) to 85 Platinum in two assessment cycles. A 14-point improvement from an already high starting point, one of the most technically demanding progressions in the EcoVadis methodology. Platinum status is now the foundation to build on.
UNGC membership secured
The UN Global Compact endorsed for FY 2026. Points unlocked across Environment, Labour, Ethics and Procurement in a single action. The company joins a global network of over 25,000 responsible businesses committed to the ten UNGC principles.
Sustainability Management System operational
An SMS framework now connects sustainability requirements to the company's operating structure. Policies, evidence and processes are embedded, not just filed. Progress between cycles is systematic, not incidental.
