Most sustainability research focuses on what companies report. We wanted to know more about the people doing the reporting. Do they have the team and budget their mandate demands? How much of their time goes to compliance, and how much is left for strategy? And are the pressures they feel unique to their organisation, or shared across the profession?
So this autumn, together with Salacia Solutions, we ran the 2026 Sustainability Professional Benchmark, a survey of sustainability professionals across Europe. On Thursday 10 December, we’re sharing what we found for the first time at a launch event in Rotterdam.

What’s on the programme
You’ll get an early look at the results, before the full report is published. The findings are grouped into six themes: team and resources, compliance vs. strategy, data and reporting, supply chain, leadership and influence, and AI and the future of the role.
Our keynote speaker, Simon Braaksma, Global Head of Sustainability at Philips and Vice-Chair of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board, will open the session by reflecting on what the findings mean for sustainability reporting in Europe. He’ll draw on his experience as both a standard-setter and a practitioner.
Who it’s for
Sustainability managers, heads of sustainability, ESG and reporting leads, and the consultants who support them. If you’ve ever wondered whether what you deal with every day is normal, this is a good place to find out.

Have you filled the survey? Add your voice to the benchmark
The survey is open until 27 November. It takes around 10 minutes and is completely anonymous. Filling it in is separate from registering for the event, and you’re welcome to attend either way. Every response makes the results more representative, so if you haven’t taken part yet, we’d love to hear from you.
We plan to run the Green Collar Report every year, and the conversations on 10 December will help shape next year’s questions.
