Where Scope 3 meets EcoVadis & CSRD for an energy infrastructure leader

The Challenge
Managing bulk energy storage across terminals in more than 20 countries brings real environmental complexity. CSRD confirms the reporting obligation is live. The gap is clear: no materiality assessment, no screened emissions baseline, no EcoVadis score. Building a full ESG reporting foundation before the 2026 deadline demands a partner who can run every workstream at once. The clock does not stop for internal resourcing constraints.

Project Objectives

01
Establish which ESG topics are material under CSRD before the FY2025 reporting deadline.
02
Build a credible, complete climate baseline so reporting starts with verifiable data, not estimates.
03
Enter the first EcoVadis assessment with a clear improvement plan as customer sustainability requirements grow.

Nexio Projects’ Solution

01
Double Materiality Assessment
We conducted a full ESRS based DMA, evaluating over 100 ESG topics. We updated the DMA in January 2026 to reflect the latest regulatory context, with the annual review cycle now keeping the assessment current as ESRS guidance continues to evolve.
02
Scope 3 screening
We screened and quantified Scope 3 emissions across the company's global operations. We combined this with the existing Scope 1 and 2 data to deliver a complete, documented climate baseline.
03
EcoVadis Gap Analysis and outsourced support
We completed a full EcoVadis Gap Analysis ahead of the company's first ever EcoVadis submission. Our Outsourced Sustainability Manager provided embedded expert capacity across all three work streams simultaneously, removing the dependency on internal hiring timelines.

Key Outcomes

The client has a sustainability programme that continues to serve CSRD reporting cycles, climate disclosure needs and growing customer requirements for ratings performance.
CSRD foundation delivered
25 material ESG matters identified from over 100 topics assessed. The DMA is structured, documented and ready for assurance. FY2025 CSRD reporting is on track for the 2026 deadline.
Full climate picture for the first time
Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions down 42% vs the baseline. Scope 3 screened and quantified across all 20+ country operations. The company now has a consolidated view of its full climate footprint. Decarbonisation planning can begin from a credible base.
EcoVadis ready
The company enters its first assessment in 2026 with a clear action plan across all four pillars: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The starting point is structured.
