Ongoing project
Where climate risk reporting meets sustainability strategy: A global specialty chemicals manufacturer
The Challenge
Three sustainability disclosure frameworks. One deadline. CSRD requires a full sustainability statement and California SB 261 requires a climate risk disclosure. EU based customers are asking chemical suppliers for Scope 3 data. With 1,200 employees across 25 manufacturing sites in 6 countries, the pressure is on.
Project Objectives
01
Identify material topics & subtopics for datapoint identification aligned with the CSRD requirements.
02
Assess physical and transition climate risks across 25 manufacturing sites to satisfy California SB 261 and CSRD climate disclosure requirements.
03
Build a competitive sustainability strategy that positions the company as a preferred supplier for customers demanding ESG data.
Nexio Projects’ Solution
01
CSRD-aligned Double Materiality Assessment
We conducted a full CSRD aligned DMA, identifying and prioritising material sustainability topics across all relevant ESRS pillars. The ongoing materiality assessment determines which ESRS disclosures are required, with the topic list reviewed and updated as regulatory guidance evolves.
02
Sustainability Strategy and CSRD Gap Assessment
We delivered a five pillar sustainability strategy built on peer benchmarking versus direct sector competitors. Target ranges and an implementation roadmap were set for each pillar. Alongside this, we completed a full CSRD Gap Processor. Every ESRS disclosure requirement was mapped against current practices. The gap to close before reporting begins is clear.
03
TCFD-aligned Climate Risk Assessment
We assessed physical and transition risks across all 25 manufacturing sites across three time horizons: 2027, 2030 and 2050. The assessment covers all four TCFD pillars and supports compliance with California SB 261, CSRD E1, and AASB S2.
Key Outcomes
The client has a sustainability programme that continues to serve reporting obligations across multiple frameworks. Supplier credibility is being built with every disclosure cycle.

CSRD ready
Material ESG topics identified and prioritised across all ESRS pillars. Every disclosure requirement mapped against current practices. The company enters its first CSRD reporting cycle with full clarity on what to report and how.

Full climate risk picture across all sites
Physical and transition risks assessed across all manufacturing sites in 6 countries, across three time horizons extending to 2050. Meets California SB 261 requirements. Delivers the E1 climate disclosure foundation for CSRD. Transition risks, particularly carbon pricing and feedstock exposure, are now integrated into strategic and capital planning.

A competitive sustainability strategy
Based on the roadmap delivered, the company is positioned to become a preferred supplier for EU based customers requiring sustainability performance data from their chemical supply chains.
