SBTi – Corporate Net Zero V2.0 explained

The SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard version 2.0 dropped on the 11th of June 2026 and is the biggest update to the framework since launch. Here’s what changed.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 targets must now be set separately. Near-term target windows are fixed at exactly 5 years. Zero inventory exclusions are permitted.

Here’s what the changes mean.
The focus shifts from ambition to verifiable implementation. It is no longer enough to commit. You have to prove progress year on year.
Version 2.0 submissions open in Q1 2027. Version 1.3.1 closes in January 2028.
