So, when talking about the medal thresholds, EcoVadis awards different types of medals. You can have a Platinum medal, which is awarded to the top 1% of EcoVadis performers.
An important factor to note here is that they don’t only look at your industry; they look at all of the companies that are rated by EcoVadis.
The second medal you can be awarded is Gold. In order to reach that, you need to be in the top 5% of scores. The next one is Silver, which is the top 15%, and then the last one is Bronze. In order to get Bronze, you need to be in the top 35%.
These thresholds also change depending on the point system. So, while there is a point system in the background, they really do look at the percentile system most importantly.
With our work with our clients, we also often look at the minimum points that our clients have reached within that reporting cycle, and I think we’ve found some interesting things this year, right?
Yeah, actually. These thresholds keep moving based on these percentiles, of course, and we also see that they are moving and increasing at an increasingly rapid pace.
For example, last year in July, so July 2025, we saw that the threshold to achieve a Gold medal was at 78. Now, in July 2026, this threshold is already at 81 out of 100 points.
So, we see that this is rapidly moving, and that’s also why it’s very important not just to re-upload the same evidence, but also to keep improving and building upon your sustainability management system.
When talking about medal eligibility, one important thing to note is that if you do not reach the threshold for Bronze, you are not eligible to receive any medal.
However, there are some badges that you can receive. For example, if you jump from one score to another very quickly, EcoVadis might give you that badge. Or, if you reach around 50 points or something around that, you might get a Committed badge.
So, they do look at companies that are trying to focus on improving their management systems but perhaps do not reach the level needed to get a medal.
