Wat is een B Corp en waarom zouden we overwegen er een te worden?
B Corp is een onafhankelijke certificeringsinstantie die zich richt op het bevorderen van de hoogste normen op het gebied van milieu- en sociale verantwoordelijkheid voor bedrijven. Wereldwijd zijn er momenteel meer dan 8.000 gecertificeerde B Corps in sectoren variërend van mode tot voedsel en financiën. Het certificeringsproces van B Corp biedt een van de meest robuuste meetinstrumenten voor duurzaamheidsprestaties – het biedt competatief voordeel, kan de invloed te vergroten en talent aan te trekken.
Welke onderwerpen behandelt de BIA?
De B Impact Assessment (BIA) onderzoekt hoe een bedrijf invloed heeft op zijn werknemers, gemeenschap, milieu en klanten, evenals zijn governance-structuur. De beoordeling is verdeeld in twee delen:
• Operaties, die de dagelijkse activiteiten omvatten.
• Impact Business Models, die bedrijfsmodellen erkennen die extra positieve impact creëren.
Het beoordelingskader wordt elke drie jaar geüpdatet.
Wie komt in aanmerking voor B Corp-certificering?
Met uitzondering van specifieke gevallen die vermeld staan op de pagina "Controversiële kwesties" van B Corp, kan elk gevestigd bedrijf met winstoogmerk streven naar B Corp-certificering, ongeacht de grootte. Er kunnen echter aanvullende vereisten gelden als een bedrijf minder dan één jaar oud is, verbonden entiteiten heeft of een grote multinational of beursgenoteerd bedrijf is.
Hoe lang duurt het certificeringsproces voor B Corp?
De duur van het certificeringsproces – vanaf het starten van de B Impact Assessment tot het voldoen aan juridische vereisten en het aankondigen van de certificering – hangt af van de grootte en complexiteit van het bedrijf. Voor kleine tot middelgrote bedrijven duurt het proces doorgaans 8 tot 12 maanden. Voor grote multinationals, bedrijven met meerdere verbonden entiteiten of bedrijven in controversiële sectoren kan het verificatieproces echter langer duren.
