Customer pressure: CDP & CSRD governance for a global healthcare packaging leader

The Challenge
A global manufacturer of thermoformed packaging for the medical device and pharmaceutical sector operates 11 production sites across four countries with 1,400 employees. Formal CDP requests from key customers arrive with submission deadlines attached. With no prior disclosure history, no climate governance framework and 95% of total emissions unmeasured, the business is not ready to respond. CDP does not ask once. It comes back every cycle.

Project Objectives

01
Answer formal CDP customer requests with a credible first submission that builds lasting disclosure capability.
02
Ground every CDP module in a full, auditable emissions programme so the data holds up under scrutiny year after year.
03
Build governance and reporting structures that sustain CDP performance and expand into CSRD aligned ESG across all 11 sites.

Nexio Projects’ Solution

01
CDP and EcoVadis
We ran two consecutive end to end CDP Climate Change submissions, from data collection through to final response. In parallel, we supported two EcoVadis assessment cycles and built a continuous improvement roadmap. An Annual CDP Coaching and Support Programme keeps performance on track each new cycle.
02
Climate programme
We delivered a full Carbon Footprint Assessment covering Scopes 1, 2 and 3. This included two full Scope 3 Assessments and a Scope 3 Screening. We built an SBTi Aligned Decarbonisation Strategy, a Renewable Electricity Transition Plan and prepared a Product Carbon Footprint setup. Every output feeds directly into CDP's emissions and targets modules with auditable data.
03
Reporting and supply chain
We ran an Outsourced Sustainability Officer engagement with a CSRD focus and completed a Double Materiality Assessment with Interoperability Mapping. We built a reporting architecture aligned to six frameworks: GRI, VSME, SASB, IFRS, ESRS and CDP. We delivered a Tier 1 Supplier Risk Assessment, Supplier Code of Conduct, Supplier Survey and Procurement Staff Training. These address CDP's value chain sections directly.

Key Outcomes

The client has a sustainability programme that continues to serve annual CDP cycles, customer requirements for carbon data and expanding CSRD obligations. All three work streams connect under one governance framework.
CDP programme established from zero
Two consecutive annual CDP Climate Change disclosures completed on time. The company moved from no prior disclosure history to a fully governed climate programme within one cycle. The strategic roadmap now targets a higher CDP performance level. The infrastructure to get there is in place.
Real emissions reductions
Scope 1 and 2 emissions fell 39% vs the baseline. Six years ahead of the 2030 target. Renewable electricity now accounts for 45% of total consumption. Five of 11 sites run on 100% green power.
Scope 3 measured fully
175,139 tCO2e in 2024. A 7% reduction from the baseline. Scope 3 accounts for 95% of total emissions. It is actively tracked and managed at group level.
EcoVadis Silver
top 15% of performers across all industries.
