Varsha Ram Balapa

Raised in the vibrant coastal city of Chennai, India, Varsha has had a firsthand experience of the effects of climate change on urban landscapes. Motivated to engineer solutions for transforming carbon-intensive cities into sustainable spaces, she holds an MSc in Industrial Ecology from TU Delft and Leiden University. Varsha’s academic journey equipped her with the skills to apply an interdisciplinary and systemic approach to optimize the environmental performance of products, processes, and systems. 

 Before venturing into her studies in the Netherlands, Varsha worked with a range of firms in India, spanning renewable energy, consulting, and venture capital. Complementing her professional experience, she has volunteered in education and environmental non-profits in India, furthering her interest in social innovation and impact.
